Course Description

A course from the CODESYS Academy Series. An Original Training by the CODESYS manufacturer.
The training is face-to-face led by an instructor. Throughout the training, theoretical parts are followed by practical exercises to facilitate knowledge transfer. Use cases are explored to demonstrate how the tool can be applied.

The training is an introduction to the IEC 61131-3 standard and the participant will become familiar with the following features:

  • Data declaration
  • Rules for programming
  • Program structure

The participants will be introduced to syntax and semantics of the five IEC programming languages:

  • Instruction List (IL)
  • Structured Text (ST)
  • Ladder Diagram (LD)
  • Function Block Diagram (FBD)
  • Sequential Function Chart (SFC)
  • Continuous Function Chart (CFC)

The training provides an introduction to predefined POUs (libraries). The participant will be introduced to different data types:

  • Standard data types
  • Defined data types (arrays, structures, enumeration types, etc.)
  • I/O configuration

A virtual desktop is available to each participant for exercises at online courses. This desktop can be accessed with a browser, allowing the trainer to look over the shoulder of the participants and provide individual support.

The training includes the following features of visualization:

  • Basic elements
  • Placeholder concept
  • Available visualization clients

The training provides an overview of the CODESYS functions:

  • Task configuration
  • Trace configuration
  • Online functionality (breakpoints, forcing values)
  • Administration of multiple watch lists and recipes

The training provides an overview of the CODESYS operators:

  • Assignments
  • Boolean and bit string logic
