CODESYS: Modularization, extended functions and additional version management

The manufacturer-independent IEC 61131-3 automation software CODESYS has been revised. For example, thanks to modularization, users can benefit more quickly from updates of individual components. In addition, there are new functions and the version management system Git is also available.

On the occasion of a press conference, the Kempten-based software manufacturer CODESYS announced that modularized updating will be possible starting with version V3.5 SP 17. Although all components will be installed automatically during a "normal" setup just like before, they will each receive their own versioning. The advantage: All components can now also be updated separately. As soon as new versions of individual components are released, CODESYS users will receive information directly in the tool via push message. Desired updates can then be installed immediately without having to update the entire version. And users benefit more quickly than before from new  tool features for their daily work. For example, an application developer no longer has to wait for the release of a new service pack in order to use the new functions of a CFC editor when developing his application.
