Working Student Application Team (m/f/d)

To keep it that way, more than 250 employees work on the development and marketing of CODESYS at our offices in Kempten, Boston, Beijing, and Milan.

Your tasks:

  • Development and implementation of automated test cases for validating the SRCI specification using standardized commands (e.g., MoveLinear, ReadActual, Position, GroupReset)
  • Evaluation of AI-supported methods for automatic test case generation based on existing test specifications
  • Setting up test environments with robot controller simulators or real robot systems from various manufacturers
  • Support in integrating the tests into existing CI/CD pipelines
  • Analysis of client-server communication between PLC (client) and robot controller (server)
  • Collaboration on documentation, specification, and further development of our SRCI test profiles
  • Close cooperation with the development team

The Application Team develops application-specific plug-ins and user libraries that complement CODESYS V3 and CODESYS go!. The development process is organized in an agile manner and follows the principles of the Scrum framework. A central component of current development projects is the Standard Robot Command Interface (SRCI) – an open, cross-manufacturer industry standard that enables uniform programming and control of robots via PLC systems (via IEC 61131). SRCI standardizes communication between PLCs and robot controllers and supports robot functions such as motion commands, status queries, and advanced control functions. 

To ensure cross-vendor interoperability, functionality, and quality of implementations, we want to build an SRCI Conformance Test Framework based on the CODESYS Test Manager that automatically checks compliance with the specification.

Your profile:

  • Current Studies in a STEM subject
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • High level of personal responsibility and commitment
  • Analytical and structured approach to work
  • Good written and spoken German and English
  • Advantages:
    • Basic programming skills in the languages of IEC 61131-3
    • Basic experience with Python
