"CODESYS V3.5 Service Pack 17" - the official name of the now released version sounds rather unspectacular. Nevertheless, according to the CODESYS Group, the approximately 200,000 users of the IEC 61131-3 automation software worldwide will receive extensive new functions with Service Pack 17.
Designed as modular software, CODESYS V3 can be extended by add-on components. Manufacturers of compatible controllers and their users can install functional plug-ins themselves and thus adapt the range of functions to their requirements. It does not matter whether the add-ons are provided by the tool manufacturer and downloaded via the online platform "CODESYS Store" or developed in-house via a .NET-based SDK.
