Safety extensions have been available for years for the market-leading IEC 61131-3 development system CODESYS, especially for manufacturers of safety controllers. In addition, CODESYS Safety for EtherCAT Safety Modules provides a range of products for users. It allows automation specialists to develop safety functions with an EtherCAT Safety Module, which is addressed via a CODESYS-compatible controller.
With the latest release, CODESYS Safety for EtherCAT Safety Modules now also supports the Beckhoff EL6910 modules and the EK1960 Compact Controller - in addition to the existing EL6900. The newly supported modules enable users to project safety-relevant operations with analog data directly in CODESYS. These data can be loaded via "Single Channel" input terminals (TwinSAFE SC) or the standard controller, validated in the safety module, and safely processed. The result is written to safety output terminals. The EK1960 module also includes integrated digital safety inputs and outputs and eliminates the need for external safety I/Os.
The development of these safety modules with the CODESYS Development System and the corresponding extension CODESYS Safety for EtherCAT Safety Modules has been certified by TÜV SÜD. Thus, the acceptance of safety applications on the safety modules is easily possible.
