3S-Smart Software Solutions released an integrated robotics function for the CODESYS Development System in early 2016. This supplement to the familiar SoftMotion solution includes an axis group configurator for convenient preparation of robot movements.
Now the automation experts in Kempten have extended the functional range of CODESYS SoftMotion CNC+Robotics. New POUs in accordance with PLCopen for Motion Control (Part 4) allow for executing the movement of robot axis groups on predefined paths, for example. As a result, linear or rotary motion segments can be predefined dynamically at runtime by the IEC 61131-3 application program and then processed on suitable PLCs. The new "continuous path" robot motion and the "point-to-point" robot motion have been available since the first version. They independently observe the limiting values of the applied robot axes and can be interrupted easily, for example in case of obstruction. CODESYS SoftMotion CNC+Robotics has been submitted to PLCopen for certification.
At the SPS IPC Drives exhibition at Booth 750 in Hall 7, 3S-Smart Software Solutions demonstrates the functional range of the robotics solution with robot cells from various manufacturers.
